Art for the public, Caixa forum

In Barcelona there is a group that said, that art needs to came to the public. Not only that, art needs to come free of charge. In the name of God!!! Free art for the public? Yes, and it is not just a group, it is a bank!

Twenty years ago the Catalan bank ''La Caixa'', created a foundation that supports art and brings art of all periods of time and streams, to the open public.

The name of the foundation is ''Caixa forum'' and they opened a museum with that name. The entrance to the museum is free, in order to bring the art specially to the people that can't afford it. The museum is a beautiful building, build of red stones and it looks like a Lego house. It is at Plaza de Espanya on the right side of the singing fountain.

The museum changes it’s exhibition with photography, painting, sculpture, video art. and alternative art. Today, there is an exhibition titled ''twenty years with contemporary art: new acquisitions''. It is in hall two.

From 1960 to 1985, twelve artist invite the spectator to enter a scenario which plays with his expectation and questions his experience of reality.

Tomorrow in hall one, a new exhibition will be opened ''Tuner and Venice'', about the images of Venice. By the British painter Joseph Turner.1775/1851.

In hall three there is exhibition of the famous French sculpturer ‘'Rodin'' (1840/1917).

For all the exhibition's the access is free. So in one day, at one place, it is possible to see three different works of wonderful artist's, at different time's.

Diamond for tourist

For the one of you that will come to Barcelona as tourist you got a big bonus.

The museum ''Caixa forum'' is found on Plaza de Espanya, one of the most beautiful plazas in Barcelona. From the plaza you can walk up to the ''National history museum of art of Catalunya'' that was build as a palace. Behind it, you can see and visit the Olympic stadium, which was opened at the Olympic games of 1992. All around there are beautiful gardens, part of the park of ''Mount juic''. A walk along the gardens will bring you to the museum of ''Juan Miro''. You can see Barcelona under your lagers from the mountain. And there is a lot of attraction’s in this area of the wonderful museum '' Caixa forum'', that ask you to come and enjoy, whit out paying, just for the art and the public.
