For those of you that might have forgotten or just didnt notice, there is an amazing dali exhibition at boimans.
The dali exhibition that began last week is something out of the ordinary. on one hand it shows dali as a masterful artist of different medias - this is original and interesting. However in my opinion it speaks more to those who already know the artist, and are familiar with his works. The last time boimans held a Dali exhibition was about 30 years ago ( dali himelf was present at the opening), 30 years - thats a generation, a whole generation that missed the opportuntity to see one of the world most famous surrealists, and his most popular works. Many are well familiar with Dali's style and range of paintings, but not enough. and although the current exhibition is accompanied by many paintings, for those who arent familiar with Dali, it isnt enough. dont get me wrong, the exhibition is quite impressive, tastefull and original, it gives everybody a little of both. Popular Dali, and Dali you havent seen before. but if we have a Dali exhibition once in 30 years, it should have more popular pieces, those that a generation might have missed as well.
This exhibition falls under the "do not miss" category, but there is plenty of time so take it easy.
