not at all in perspective

everything and nothing (the usual)
or street level foreign view
Before I came to the Netherlands, I thought what everybody else thought: drugs are legal, prostitution is legal and gambling is legal. Wow. Pretty good scoring a 3 out of 3. Little did I know, it scored much more. Well, for starters, I never had a queen before. Now I do. I even have a day I can celebrate her (mothers) Bday, roaming the streets of Amsterdam drunk under her name. So what is a constitutional monarchy? I have no goddamn clue really, so I guess it’s kind of like a democracy with the royalty just being a symbol, taking up tax money and waving once in a while (king and queens never want to give up their jobs I would guess).
If someone would have told me 2 years ago that I would have worked at several established cafés and clubs and that I would be living in a great apartment for only 25€ a month, I would probably have thought No Fucking Way. But it’s true! (you weren’t ready for that were you). There are so many opportunities here in Rotterdam, it kinda seems that it’s even more so for beginners. Its like the city is blessed with beginners luck. And I was so lucky my first year, I sure it came at the expense of the general luck factor taking up about 20% and leaving 80% luck for 650,000 people. This anti-crack thing is great. Why haven’t they thought about yet all over all the world (maybe cause it doesn’t make any sense).
Ok, food. Food is a big thing for me, I love eating. I thought food was always a part of the culture. I guess I was wrong. As far as I can see food is no part of the Dutch culture, unless patat counts as a culture. For a while I was pretty hungry, not really finding anything to eat. I mean where are the street food stands and such (besides that hotdog guy Hans)(and hotdogs are American or German). Ok so its freezing most of the year, so you might think there is an extremely developed take-away system. Ehh, not so developed and nothing extreme about it. (if you think differently I would love to be proven wrong)
End part 1.
