Climate change and sea level rise present large security risks all over the world. Small island states are extra vulnerable.
To address their needs the University for Peace organizes an international conference on 13 and 14 February, bringing them together with experts from all over the world.
The conference will be held at the Peace Palace in the Hague.
Jan Pronk, former Dutch minister of Development Cooperation and the Environment, and former Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Sudan, will deliver the opening speech, recognizing the urgent need for international negotiations and policies.
